The Hard Road

We understand that not all of us have easy roads in our lives and some of those paths have taken us to scary places. The hard road represents the trauma, grief and loss, or adversity one may have faced on their journey. These kinds of journeys can leave us battered, bruised, hopeless, and afraid to trust. When on the path to healing there are times we may have to visit tough roads in order to make our way back to where we want to be. This can be scary to think of, when all we may want to do is forget and try to move on. This is where Trauma informed care comes in.

If you prick us, do we not bleed” ~ William Shakespeare

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma informed care is a lot more than just a philosophy that recognizes and understanding how trauma impacts the lives of others. The Healing Road LLC considers Trauma Informed Care as a way of moving towards and caring for hurting individuals, holistically. It is about meeting people where they are and walking with them on the road to healing and equipping them with the tools they may need for their journey (e.g. coping skills). Our Therapist, Daniel Cervantes, MA, LMHC, CSAYC, takes a Person-Centered approach and focuses on skills and tools before exploring hard and emotional topics. Some evidence-based treatments he can incorporate in his sessions (if applicable) are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

“Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.” (Matthew 5:41 KJV)
